Class of '08, where are you going to college, and how did you decide?
- surfcali08
Going to Rutgers University in the Fall and it was an easy decision. At the beginning of my college search, it was the first one on my list. $20,000 per year as an instate student (tuition + room and board), close to home, and a great education.
I only applied to 3 colleges because I knew that I would go to Rutgers. Actually, I told my mom how I wanted to ONLY apply to Rutgers, but that was a bit risky. I didn't want to take any chances. Got accepted the first week of January, enrolled 2 weeks later :)

Going to Syracuse University in the Fall. I toured at least twenty colleges...Temple...Seton Hall...U Penn...U Deleware...the list goes on. Syracuse was the last one on my list, I fell in love with it the moment I stepped on the campus. It was the only tour that I can say was perfect from beginning to end. I got to tour my school of interest which is their School of Education and I was able to meet students, professors and professional staff, also the tour guides took you everywhere and they allowed you to walk around on your own, they were not trying to hide anything.
I refused to apply to any other school so I applied early decision and found out I was accepted before Christmas!
I love the school spirit up there and I can't wait until the Fall!
- KAYR woot well awesome job guys! It's been a long process, but I'm glad it paid off for everyone!
Good luck!
- surfcali08 Thanks!...where are u going?
- KAYR oops, forgot to answer my own topic lol....I'm headed to UCLA. Wasn't the most "prestigious" of the ones I was admitted to, but it was the "biggest bang for your buck," I was admitted to the honors program there, and received a partial scholarship. So in the end, it those things made me feel like I could make a difference. Hope to see us playin your Orange in the Final Four one of these days (though probably not next year....all our good players left :[ ).
- surfcali08 UCLA is a great school...good choice!
- KAYR I'm heading to Cornell University next year. I fell in love with the campus when I visited and know it has a very strong engineering program. The amazing food was a draw too.
- Zach W wow, congrats zach! that's an awesome school, and ithica is amazing!!! probably the nicest ivy league campus in my opinion (maybe tied with princeton). good luck, and have fun!
- surfcali08 it was down to penn, brown, and swarthmore...i was going to go to brown...but then the dean of swarthmore had to call my house on the afternoon of april 30th...he had to be hilariously funny and down to earth...he had to say how much he wanted me to go to swarthmore...he had to ask what he could do to make me come...he had to ask me to meet with him on campus on the morning of may 1st...i had to fall in love with the small engineering department and its quirky students...
the mccabe scholarship didn't hurt either.
i'm going to swarthmore!!!!!! (yay class of 2012)
- pioneertothefalls im off to purdue in the fall!
- Nowai I decided by making a list of my interests, that helped. I then narrowed it down to what I like to do more, and which would pay more, and I got my answer. Try it!
Good luck!
