The Stats.
I'm a rising junior.

GPA: weighted -- 4.44 unweighted -- 3.8

Courses: My school offers only two AP courses, Art and Calculus. I'm worried this will hurt my application, but I've taken the highest difficulty classes possible.

ECs: National Beta Club, volunteer math tutoring, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, varsity basketball (captain), varsity soccer, varsity volleyball (captain), creator and president of my school's science club, class treasurer.

I would like more information about my chances at Princeton, Duke, University of Washington, and University of Chicago.

Thanks for any brutalhonesty/help/advice!

First off, I can only speak for Princeton. At Princeton the administration does not judge high schools. They want to see that you (the student) took advantage of the resources available to them. It sounds like you yearn to challenge yourself, which will look great on your resume. At Princeton, many students start from different places. Some are in really advanced classes and some aren't. Don't worry about your grades that much either because a lot of people here never got straight A's. Your EC's are pretty cookie-cutter... It really helps to stand out and do something that interests you. In your senior year you should try to visit the campus and do something that interests you.

Truthfully, you don't need to go to the Ivy League schools to get a great education or be happy. Do what you want and you'll be most successful.

how is it that your weighted and unweighted gpa are so far from each other?
- JMT228
I've taken a lot of honors classes, and A's in those classes on the weighted scale factor in as 5.0. On the unweighted scale they only factor in as 4.0

with a gay name like that what uni would want you!

wow that was so helpful britchick. you have so much helpful information.

like princeton said stand out. this applies to most schools. and yeah schools will evaluate you against what your oppurtunities were class-wise, not others with many more APs.

Princeton and hopeful2getin, thanks for your help! I was stressing like major about the lack of APs, so that's really good to know. Hopefully I'll be able to find something to make my application stand out, and as it is I still have over a year to look at a lot of different schools (not just the ivies). Thanks again =]

brit-chick, I apologize that my taste in authors and/or screen names is not to your liking. Since your comment was both relevant and constructive, I'll try to work on choosing better screen names in the future. Riiight.
