Forum Topic: "UIUC and my record."

Post a new topic
I am looking to apply to UIUC.

-150 hours community service
-6 month internship at Ernst + Young
-680 SAT MAth 2c (looking to raise a lot more)
-2.0 GPA unweighted (My schools GPA meant that a A = 99-100% to give you an idea of how tough it was)
-2000 on SAT which i shall retake.

I took the IB Diploma programme and scored well on some subjects but worse on others (got 29 overall with 1 6, 3 5s and 2 4s) I was wondering what does a shot at UIUC look like with my stats? I know I can get my SAT and SAT 2c up at least 50/100

Also, if you could suggest some schools such as safety's and others that would be greatly appreciated. I am a British National.

I live in Illinois, so my chances might be different
but here, we see UIUC as a safety school for the most part, unless you're a total screw off in highschool
um, if your counselor perhaps writes a letter explaining your school's obviously strict grading, show that you ARE actually good at diff subjects by taking a few more SAT IIs should really help you out [esp the letter]. Also if your from Britain, that could help you as the school is not very diverse when it coems to backrounds, an overwhelming amount of people are from Illinois. idk abt IB, my school doesnt offer it, we just have AP's, so i cant interpret the scores, but from the stats before that I think you have a decent shot, check out UIC and University of Illinois, Springfield for some safeties.

Well the percentages of my grades are still shown on the transcript though, for example my Chemistry grade was 86%, but thats a 2.5 in my school. Really what brings me down was failing one or two classes. Nearly all grades were 85+.

Well, I am actually working at a bank right now, and I am only taking Maths SAT 2c at the moment, as if i take anymore i don't think i'll have enough time because apps are due in december? I don't knoww
