Forum Topic: "Why I like Harvard."

Post a new topic
Howard Gardner-Multiple Intelligences and The Disciplined Mind fame. The history of the school. Veritas (truth) is my favorite word. Cambridge is a wonderful college town. I can take classes there and at MIT. I am not going into science but, I love to learn about it. It has a woman president. They value the independent thinker. They have more than 15 million books. John Adams and many other great thinkers have attended there.

Our family came to America the year it was founded. Not all of these are great educational reasons for me to attend but, I still value Harvard's place in the history of our country. I value all great places of learning who have succeeded in helping us become who we are.

Will I apply there? I don't know. But, I am tired of everyone putting down colleges and universities on this sight. My parents have friends who attended their undergraduate program and who have become very successful in their chosen fields, just as I am sure the graduates of Brown are or of Dartmouth, Middlebury, or even dare I say it, Long Beach State University.

Harvard is worth visiting whether you are going to be a student there or not. It's apart of the history of our nation and, it's place in the world cannot be denied.

I wasn't putting down Harvard as much as people's perception of it as the best place on earth to do your undergrad.

How about this, reasons not to like Harvard: They are the only Ivy who doesn't share books with the others.

lol ^^^

harvard is a good school.

The only thing I dislike about it is that their students rub it in everyone else's face.

But hey, if you get in and decide to go there, more power to you; it's a great institution with tons of history, and I'm sure you'll find your experience there enjoyable...just as grads of Brown, Dartmouth, Berkeley, UCLA, Florida, UNC, UVA, Michigan, Stanford and Ohio State do.

Best of luck to you, I'm sure you'll find the school that's the right FIT for you!
