Forum Topic: "Will I get in?"

Post a new topic
I have a 3.5 GPA right now but I'm about to enter junior year and I'm going to try to bring up my GPA to a 3.65 GPA.
My extra curriculars include: volunteering @ a hospital (I reach 200 hundred hours today), FBLA, a job. I knowI don't have many curriculars but I can't do very many b/c I take care of my Alzheimer ridden father ( I plan to explain this in my essay).
I think I'm going to do well on the SAT b/c my PSAT scores were really good and I have been studying for the SAT.
I am taking challenging courses such as AP and honors courses.
I would like to know if my list of schools sounds reasonable.

Safety Schools : Marshall, Washington & Jefferson
Reaches: University of Washington, Northeastern, Pitt
Dependables: University at Buffalo, Penn State, Toledo?

My #1 choice: it's between Penn State and University of Buffalo...

Will I get in? Do you have any suggestions for me? I wouldn't mind suggestions for schools, ways to make my application stronger, etc.

reach higher. who knows? getting into great schools is worth the 200 bucks you'll spend on the extra app fees.

UW is weird with who they accept.

I had a lower GPA then a fried but I took honors and APs to the maximum my school would allow, and he didnt AND I have higher SAT scores and more extra-curricular involvement....and I got waitlisted and he was accepted.

I know with Penn State you might, but the University of Buffalo probably not.

if you want a shot at Penn State-University Park youre gonna need at least a 1750 on your SAT's and a min GPA of 3.7 so unless youre a minority or have something extremely unique about you, be prepared to be placed on a branch campus.
