Post a new topic
I'm wondering what my chances are for some colleges. I have a 3.88 unweighted, 4.1 weighted GPA, and am ranked about 50/600 in my class for unweighted (about 20 for weighted). My SAT was around 2000, but I'm retaking it, and my ACT was 31. SAT II's were 730 for chem and 750 for math and my extracurriculars are Music, NHS and basketball (played JV for 2 years, and coached a youth team this year) I'm white, middle class and female.
Should I consider these school safety's, matches, or reaches? Oh, and I'm considering majoring in Chemistry or maybe chemical engineering.

i believe that is decent enough to get into cornell and Rice as long as your admissions essay is good. i havnt heard about the other 2 colleges, but if your good enough for rice and cornell, the others should be easy to get into. Make sure you consider other colleges too, not just these four.

for example, University of Chicago-Champaign has one of the best engineering programs in the nation.

I hope you're right and I get in. Yeah, I have a couple safeties also, but since I know I can get in with no problem I didn't ask about them. I also want a school with a music department so I can minor in music, so I'm looking at more than just how good they are at enigneering.

i think you've got a pretty good chance at all of them. if your SAT or ACT goes up higher, you can apply even higher. there's no harm in that. Also, for engineering/chem, the best schools are usually big state schools (illinois and purdue are both great)

I took just the ACT. It depends on where you want to apply to really, and what they prefer.
